The problem it addresses

Most task apps ask you to file before you can capture: pick a list, pick a date, pick a priority. That friction is why so much ends up in a notes app, a WhatsApp message to yourself, or nowhere.

UTTER IN inverts it. Capture is one sentence, and the structure is inferred afterwards — the date out of “next Thursday morning”, the person out of a name, the type out of the phrasing. You correct it if it guessed wrong, which takes a second and is far cheaper than a form.

What building it taught us

Interpreting a sentence is the easy half. The hard half is what happens when the interpretation is wrong: the correction has to be faster than typing it manually, or people stop trusting the capture and go back to a notes app.

Dates in mixed language are their own problem. “بعد بكرة الصبح”, “next Thursday”, and a message that starts in Arabic and gives the time in English all have to land on the same calendar entry, and the user’s timezone is not always the one their phone reports.

And an assistant that holds your reminders has to be dependable before it is clever. A missed notification costs more trust than a perfect parse earns, so the plumbing — sync, offline capture, delivery — matters more than the model.
