POPINID
A digital business card — one link or tap that hands over your details, your channels and whatever you want someone to do next. Built, owned and operated by Tothiq.
The problem it addresses
Paper cards get thrown away and the details get retyped wrong. The alternatives mostly solve the sharing and stop there: you get a page, and no idea whether it was opened, saved or ignored.
POPINID treats the card as the start of a contact rather than the end of an introduction — the details are current because they live in one place you control, and updating them does not require reprinting anything or messaging everyone you have ever met.
What building it taught us
Identity products live or die on the first ten seconds. A profile that takes a minute to load on mobile data, or asks the recipient to install anything, has already failed — the person is standing in front of you waiting.
Names are harder than they look. Arabic and Latin spellings of the same person, honorifics, family names that sort differently, and the reality that many people want their card in one language and their contacts saved in another. Handling that properly is a data model decision, not a translation task.
And the boring parts carry the product: reliable contact export that actually imports into an iPhone and an Android without mangling fields, a QR code that scans in bad lighting, and a page that renders correctly when it is pasted into WhatsApp.
Where it is
Live at popin.id. We pay for its hosting, answer its support and live with every decision we made building it — which is why the estimates we give you on application work come from having done the thing rather than read about it.
